Description:

Few hounds could track him, fewer still tree him, and none had ever come close to capturing him. The local hunters thought he was invincible, immortal even.

Precious Sue, the hound of Mun Mundee and his son, Harkey, had come as close as any. But one morning, aroused by the scent of the legendary raccoon, Sue goes missing, never to return. Her curiously web-footed pup takes up the chase, and he's soon on to Old Joe.

Harkey loves to hunt raccoons above all else, hates school and the chores his father sets him. He often welches, takes beatings, yet remains philosophical, after all, 'there were always reckonings of one sort or another. A man just had to take care he got his reckoning's worth.'
